Is Nas a leader of a rebellion or is he the soothsayer, helping the rest of the world see what he has seen since he started rapping? The media may try to make him look like the gangster rapper who will rob your house and have his way with your wife and daughter despite what his music catalogue suggests of his character. Like Tupac over ten years ago when rap was under fire, Nas is stepping up to take whatever will come out of this and like Tupac he is now deemed as a dangerous gangster rapper even though the music points at consequences, hope, and inspiration.

Alright, so I was browsing through youtube and I came across one of their features that has to do with my topic for analytical research. It is the video collection of a debate style show that BET put on discussing the state of hip-hop music and how it affects society which was a major topic in America this year. I contacted the people who had the videos that were being featured and they said it would be great so I will also link to them at the end of the post. I thought the debate was pretty interesting when I caught parts of it on TV and I hope everyone else finds it interesting too, feel free to leave some response to them. I haven’t watched it in awhile so hopefully you hundreds of people passing through will leave some comments to discuss and bring up some points.

I don’t really like this song, but I do know how many people hate love lil wayne.

Spike Jonze – Lakai’s Fully Flared Intro

I’ve officially gotten over 5000 hits on my site so I would like to thank my lurkers who come through browse and leave. Maybe since I have reached this mark one of you will actually start commenting. It doesn’t matter though just keep stopping by and giving me hits and I’ll keep posting as much stuff as I can. 3 Legends In One Post,Videos Included

Three music videos in one post today and a bonus video for those who look at the post. The three videos are : Jay-Z – “I Know”, Hussein Fatal – “Pop Like Me”, and Pete Rock-“Til I Retire/Best Believe” ft. Redman. I can’t tell you what the bonus is cause that would ruin the mystery of it. I’m not really a fan of the song ” I Know”, I guess it just wasn’t my favorite from AG. “Pop Like Me” was alright but it wasn’t on par with what I would expect from an Outlaw. The Pete Rock song is a good one, this is the dude that has produced classics, check out Illmatic.

Mickey Factz-“I’m Sean (50 Shots More)”

This is a song about the Sean Bell tragedy where Sean Bell was killed by the police on his wedding day after the police let off 50 shots thinking that Sean Bell had a weapon when he didn’t. Mickey Factz takes on the persona of Sean Bell in this song with an eerie instrumental and a lyrical narrative of the events of what happened and the aftermath and contains audio from newscasts. I am also gonna post a video that tells you more about Mickey Factz so you can decide if he is someone you would want to add to your list or not.

This is a little bit of musical filler until I get my next post ready. I haven’t gotten to listen to this song because the player has been giving me trouble so it is going to be up to you to decide whether it is a good song or not and you will probably have to comment and tell me so I can find out. And you think rap is bad

 To talk more on my analytical research I am doing a post about other types of music that most has been deemed fit for radio play and socially acceptable. Rap uses the same words and phrases and the culture is frowned upon. I compiled a quick set of videos that are more offensive or just as offensive as people view commercial rap. If you don’t think these are more offensive you probably have a backwards perspective on life. I included the famous song “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks because it is the perfect example of how it is wrong for rappers to say bitch but a woman can run around talking about how she is a bitch just because she is singing about it when it is counter-productive to do so. Women have been having fits all year about the Imus situation and rappers saying bitch but when that song came out it was empowering to women and many claimed to be bitches themselves and said it was a term of empowerment against mysogyny in society. There is also songs that portray women negatively but according to the news women are forced into making themselves look bad in rap videos and they don’t ask to be in them and ask to wear next to nothing. This post isn’t just fixed on the topic of women but that is one of the main issues that was facing rap this year along with the use of the n-word and that the music was too vulgar which there are also songs that cover that. That was my brief description

I was kinda reluctant to watch this video the first time I saw it. I actually like it, it must be the beat or something. I’ll post the official video for that song and another song of his and you all can decide on it.
